[Squirrel-sql-users] Unable to get 3.x Squirrel to work

Hi,

Please reply to my email address because I am not subscribed to the squirrel-sql-users email list.

I got the squirrel-sql-3.0.1-install.jar and installed it. I also got JDK 1.6, changed my JAVA_HOME environment variable to point to the new JDK and am attempting to start the Squirrel application.
The GUI begins to come up (and I can see messages flashing like "accessing plugins..." or something like that) and then suddenly it dies.
My platform is Windows XP.

I have tried uninstalling/installing Squirrel and the JDK several times but it does not help.
How can I debug this issue?

Perhaps you installed it into a directory that already contained a
previous installation of SQuirreL?
If so, try re-installing into a new directory.
